On question will the nikko on BKLS clearthe mag on the MK3? This might have some bearing on my choice.

What are you intending to use it for? FT, HFT, Hunting or just plinking?

I wouldn't but there seem to be plenty out there that will. There are usually a few MK3s/Airwolfs with expensive glass at every club I've ever been to that never see any action other than plinking.

    Kev,
my S410 is used as both a hunting rifle and for HFT. It has a Nikko 6-24x42 sniper on it. It does all I need for hunting including XVD use and I manage to do OK with this compromise scope at HFT. I consider it a good all round scope. At the time it was the only viable option available with sidewheel PX. I would also consider the Bushnell elite 6-24x40 with mil-dot. It's due to be available with side focus, if required, very soon.

    Kev,
I'd urge you to take a look at the Bushnell before you part with any cash.

The Bushnell will walk all over the Nikko in terms of optical superiority and build quality.

Are the nikkos built that badly?

I've looked through a couple of 6-24 elites and i agree they are stunning optically, i didn't want to end up buying a grey impoted bushnell incase i ever needed to use the warranty.....

Are you two talking about the Nighteater because the Bushnell doesn't walk all over my 6-24x42 platinum sniper. I'm not suggesting that the Bushnell isn't better but the differential is not that great. As I've already stated I got the Nikko because at the time there was virtually nothing else available with side focus. Now that the Bushnell is available with SF my choice may have been different.

Nikkos aren't built badly but Bushnells are built better. I've never heard of any Bushnell having to be returned for warranty and even if they did it's about £14 to send it to the states and the same to get it back so hardly a bank breaker. The nikko is also no lightweight unit.

You're right of course Chris the Nikko isn't "walked on" by the Bushnell but it is noticably better.
