Well if 30m is the range you have to work with then that is the best range.

It is best in my opinion to always zero to the longest practical distance that YOU can place a pellet in a 1" circle consistently, ie better than 95shots out of 100. The reason for this is that most shots are head shots & you will never have to use hold over on a target unless it is VERY close, ie less than 10m.

This lets you use hold under all the time & if your target is closer than the zero range & you are targeting the head, then you will either hit the head or miss high.
If you had used hold over & guessed the range wrong, then the the pellet will strike low on the target probably cause injury but not death!

    Just my 2p

I would take the gun out where you have plenty of space and spend an afternoon exploring it's capabilities. What you need to know is "what range will this gun shoot flat over?"

To that end I would intially zero a .22 12FP rifle at 30 yds and move the targets closer / further out until you work out the "flat shooting range", and then zero to the mid-point of that range.
