No Max, it is "closed". Remember, I'm in the dreaded Met!

hi, not had an awful lot to do with FAC stuff, what does air open mean? and also, i heard that you need a shotgun cert for 3 yrs before you can apply for a FAC ticket. is this true? or does it vary from area to area, or based on the applicant?
    Cheers

No it's not true, you can be granted an FAC straight off. An open ticket means you may use the rifle on any land you have permission to shoot over without the land being assesed for suitability by the police. It becomes the shooters responsibility to make the judgement as to whether the land is safe or not. If you have a closed certificate it normally states the piece of land you may shoot over and the feo normally visits the land to assess suitability, in addition it normally says "or any other land that has been cleared by the chief constable for that type of firearm".

    Eagleman,

Must be nice to have got your FAC through. I am considering applying (in the MET area as well). Do you have the words "or any other land that has been cleared by the chief constable for that type of firearm" on your cert? If not, how do you go about adding land to that identified on the cert?

    Cheers
