£600 to spend

Hi all
I have got £600 to spend on gun only as scope and charging equip is sorted.

Been looking at the Harrier X, S410, RWS Excalibre.

Would appreciate any comments positive or negative on the above rifles and any suggestions on other guns.

Thanks in Advance

Choice is yours

The best thing is to go to a club or gunshop and try the guns yourself.
The s410 is the best you mentioned.
A secondhand rapid would also be a good choice.
If you havnt shot airguns before i would go for .177 most people shoot it now as it is more forgiving on rangefinding but i still shoot .22.
Up to you at the end of the day or you could save more and get the steyr hp (the daddy)

I don't really have a basis for comparison but I think that the S410 is the way to go. Got one 2 weeks ago and got round to using it yesterday. Can't believe I wasted those 2 weeks by not using it!! The S410 has been around for a while and its popularity says it all but the harrierX looks very promising.

As for calibre, my S410 is .177 (my first girlie gun!), and it's definitely more forgiving for shooting at different ranges. .22 can still do the job though (just slower!! ).

Hope this helps.

yes but you have to send them back each year for a service and to have the card stamped, with post both ways it could be about £60 a year.

having owned both an aa410 and the harrier x i would go for the harrier everyday of the week and twice on sundays the rapid is a good choice also if you can get around its looks, looks aside it is probably the best gun for ya money

This insistance on multishot airguns is really starting to make my S H I T hang!!

The S400 is the finest "normal" airgun in years. If you want to be ready for the fast shot you simply load without cocking. You then cock and fire when the critter presents itself. Then repeat.

Should you want to try FT or HFT you will find that your gun is instantly suitable, rather than pulling your hair out foooking about with mags.

IMO, a multishot air rifle (having owned one) is completely pointless.

I guess for some professional pest controllers, and for anyone lamping, a multishot might earn its keep, but apart from that I think I'd agree with you. I've certainly never felt the need.

i agree with orson about the s400 being the best single shot for years but not about multi shots being pointless.guns like the s410k are very versatile.

currently trying to get a s400 classic for hft
