    HW97k owners club

I've just received my new l/h .177 hw97k after a 6 week wait from Germany. Its still the old style stock but very nice. Anyone got any advice on shooting and care for this rifle?

V-Mach kit and a bit of know how and you're laughing.
I play a Fender bass, I shoot a springer. I like things to be, well, dependable

Not got the know how - I had a v-mach stage 1 fitted by the shop's gunsmith before sending out so impossible to compare the before and after. Gunsmith probably didn't polish any of the parts but I was too nervous to attempt to dismantle it myself.

    rifle care

Nice rifle you've got my friend, built to last a lifetime but they're a bit twangy out of the box.

Mine gets a coat of 3-in-1 each time I use it and regular relubes. The blueing on one side of the underlever is starting to thin a bit but this was only noticable after about 7000 shots (and only I notice anyway).

Don't store it in a gun bag. And don't put any WD40 on it !

    Cheers

edit : mylof - I was nervous before fitting my Venom kit but they're easy to work on, take a look at Mario's stripdown.... http://users.skynet.be/mario.severi/...ng/strips.html

A little bit of loctite on the stock bolts stops them from becoming loose. This was the only cause of inaccuracy on my 97, now I've got no excuses!
    Great guns IMHO.

The latch ball on the under lever is not round if you take the flat off it, it will open and close smoother.Just shoot it in, and perhaps ease the trigger retaining pins a bit and remove some of the "grease" from the piston and spring. Stops it smelling after each shot.Very accuratebut a bit rough at the mo. HERX77

Find the lever latch very stiff and noisy especially when closing it. Should I be depressing the button to close as well as to open?

Only for opening, for closing you will need to round off the edge on the (ball) detent.Makes it easier all round. HERX77
