    Fiddleback Maple

    does anybody know of where i can get small pieces of this timber,places i know only sell by the plank..

    Does it have to be fiddleback and roughly what size?

    yes fiddleback about 22" x 7" x 2"and highly figured if possible...

    Bugger when you said small I thought you ment "small" I have a piece of maple burl 5"x1.5"x0.5" About the size for a small knife handle

    You could phone Craft Supplies,Miller's Dale Derbyshire
    01433 622550 THey stock many types of exotic timbers and also homegrown likw walnut etc on occasion.

    They must be dried before you use them... I think they recommend 1 yr drying time per inch of thickness...

    have just tryed craft supplies and if they have any,will only sell by the plank,but thanks paul..

    bob tryed touchstone last week didn't have any boards wide enough,going to try david dyke shortly..
