    Stealth or storm?

Which one do you guys think is the better gun to buy?
I ask this question because I want to modify this gun at a future date, are there any pro's and con's between the 2 models.I suppose I'm asking which would make the best "Base" gun to use.
All mods would be done after gaining F.A.C
    Thanks in advance.

very much a muchness both are very light and very accurate and have enough scope rails to fit almost anything you want, on the down side as they don't resemble anything like a standard air rife and can be mistaken for something else...written on previous thread when I was arrested at gun point I think it is pointless taking air rifles onto FAC unless you have a specific need rimfires do all a FAC rifle can do and more also im not sure you can apply for A class 1 and than carry out modifications on a rifle as these need to be on your ticket give it a thought is my advice

id go for the storm because it has a longer barrel, therefore opening up the possibilities when tuning.

if you are applying for your FAC i would get the FAC then go and get a rapid or airwolf, what you are implying is illegal so get the FAC FIRST

Now the sanctimonious newb bash is over with, I can give you some advice.

Stealth/Storm are identical bar the barrel. Storm barrels however are pi55 poor unless they've fixed this recently. I sold mine for a fiver. Don't buy the gun new, they're not worth it. Find a good secondhand Stealth and fit a longer barrel yourself.

As you have been told the barrel`s are not that good on these rifles, i would recommend you try for your FAC 1st ,then you have two options ,1st buy one that has already been FAC or by the cheapest stealth you can find for around the £150 mark , then buy all the parts you want (a much more expensive way option 2 )
Ask yourself what power your after as theres alot of good rifles out there, the stealth is very easy to FAC but it will cost you quite a bit to get it to a good standard.
if you get your FAC and still want one of the Airforce range rifles contact me .

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Just a couple of things to consider:

    1. You can’t have an FAC just because you want one, rather you have to show “good reason” why you need one.
    2. FAC air fulfils a very specific role as a low-powered alterative to a rim-fire rifle used solely for the dispatch of vermin in areas where it would be dangerous to use a rim-fire rifle.
    3. Normally you would not be allowed to shoot FAC air at any gun club ranges.
    4. If you do really want an FAC rated air-rifle, may I suggest that you start looking for land to shoot over NOW, as many people find it very difficult to gain shooting rights. Land needs to be checked over by the police as well.
    5. The Stealth type of air-rifle seems to be bought for its “image”…. If you have a FAC rated version that you can only take out of its slip once on your shoot, none of you mates are going to see it are they?
    6. As has already been said, the Stealth looks too much like a military combat rifle which could get you into trouble.

I’d say that you would be much better off going for a rim-fire rifle, it is still low-powered but at least it is a proper cartridge rifle and of course you CAN use it at any gun club once you become a member.

Personally, I wouldn't go for either-don't rate either rifle!
For the money there are much better rifles out there, but thats just imo

"The Stealth type of air-rifle seems to be bought for its “image”…. "

what about the ability to take it apart for transport ?
oh yeh and its not as expensive as a t.d.r

    glynn,
tuning a stealth is nothing to do with upping the power, more to do with making it more consistant, but i hear what your saying

id go for the stealth over the storm (barrel )
but if i could do things again,id have saved up for either of my skans first and not bothered with the stealth

    stealth or storm.

Thanks for all the replies to my question.
I suppose I should have made it a bit clearer to forum users that I only intend doing any mods to the said airgun after obtaining F.A.C, It is my intention to use the gun at sub 12 fpe at first.
    Once again many thanks.

Hi and welcome to a 1st class site.
I would go for the stealth..I think it looks the dogs bits. I have other guns with WOOD..eg air arms bas Weihrauch...but i like the stealth because it looks very different..Plus and a big plus is that you can get over 450 shots per fill....enjoy
The point is to have fun

My stealth shoots like p00p with the stealth silencers. It shoots ok without but nothing special and my £230 CZ ,22LR will out shoot it in every way apart from close range rat bashing.

Why bother is the question, but you can buy a 24" barrel from the usa (yes they will ship here) which will up the power. http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/ac...cessory_id=384

Oh and www.lynx.co.za/PDF/Talon%20review.pdf is a good read. Plus the best upgrade you can do for the least ££££ is the new hammer slide (heavier metal will increase ftlbs so will take you over 12ftlbs) take this drawing to your local engineer http://alpinetek.netfirms.com/guns/t...ammerslide.jpg

    oh and more info http://alpinetek.netfirms.com/guns/talon/stealthtuning/

remember this all will take you over the 12ftlb limit and will require an F>A>C and the registration of the gun as a firearm.
The problem with the world is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
