    Seven shot with Airgun..BBC News!

Just seen a breaking news report that a 25 year old bloke was arrested for alledgedly shooting 7 peeps at 00.45 this morning in Newquay.

Apparently he was taking pot shots with a .22 at a crowd of late night revellers watching a busking show in the street.

The Police are commenting that the injuries sustained by the 7 are severe.

Check out the Beeb for thier full report.

Probably have more calls to ban air rifles however we all know that he has broken the law already, the question is what laws?

Assuming he was in a public place where he took the shots from he has:

    a. Had a loaded weapon in a public place

So, for the legal experts, what are the worse charges that could be brought against him and what are the max penalties he could/should receive. Example Using a firearm with intent to wound?

Whilst I agree he should be tarred and feathered, flogged, hung, drawn and quartered, from a serious view point what are the legal implications for him if our legal system ever decided to actually implement the full extent of the law.

7 hit - MUST have been a rapid then! Send the chap to Barbados as part of his rehabilitation and ban everyone else from shooting....

Wonder how many people were admitted to hospital with drink related injuries in Newquay last night? - Doubt if they'll call for a ban on
    Bacardi Breezers though!

Intent to wound - which this clearly was - carries a maximum of life.

Now let's see what version of 'life' this moron gets, shall we? <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Roll Eyes" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

is that the 'life' of a 5 month suspended sentence, being better fed than the rest of us probably a lot warmer and more comfortable inside than where he comes from! <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

25 year old? That makes the ages of the last three perpetartors of this kind of idiocy 29 years, 37 years and 25 years, if my memory serves me right. Not exactly the stereotype of the 'mindless youth with an airgun' that we read about so often. No doubt though that it will be used by he antis to push their agenda for a ban on all airguns. Like Terry, I'd like to see this moron charged with something that will get him a life sentence but more than likely he'll face nothing worse than a breach of the peace, or reckless discharge charge. At worst it it'll be common assualt and he'll walk away with a slap on the wrist while all about us people will be screaming for new and tougher laws. What's the point when the existing law is not enforced?

I would say we put pressure on the law to prosicute this sick individual, clear intent to kill/maim. lucky it wasn't a REAL FIREARM or it would be 7 dead.

The 15 yearold girl was hit in the foot, I think he was going for the busker to tell the truth.

A busker is a street entertainer who works for loose change.

With an air rifle?? - more dangerous if he threw it at them...

Don't get me wrong - I think he should be heavily prosecuted but shooters themeselves are as guilty as everyone else for stirring up the hysteria surrounding these sorts of incidents - all be it for different reasons. Its rather selfish of us to insist upon particularly sever punishment just because he's endangered our passtime, rather than the actual danger his actions posed to the victims concerend. If he had thrown housebricks I doubt we would all be demanding life imprisonment and criticise the legal system for being too lenient, in fact if he'd have thrown housebricks at policemen as part of a 'political' statement I doubt the incident would even have been reported!

Pat - that moron used an airgun with intent to wound. The 'wounds' he inflicted could well have cost some innocent person their sight.

Anyone who does this, be it with brick, airgun or anything else - should get at least 3 years in nick.

    All IMHO of course. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

If the above is in response to the deleted post, mate - you were right, it WAS irresponsible, ok?

Some things we DON'T joke about on here. Shooting people with airguns is one of them. I'm sure you meant no harm but it's not the kind of thing we publicise.

    I trust you'll understand.
