    'Is it perhaps time that responsible, law abiding air rifle shooters adopt a similar attitude? Clearly, a substancial number of us do not align ourselves with an umbrella organisation.'

    And not only because it would allow us to disassociate ourselves from the activities of the lunatics who commit these crimes. A large and powerful body such as suggested would be the best antidote to the activities of the nati-gun extremeists both in and out of government. Don't hold your breath though - airgunners are notoriously the most difficult section of the shooting sports to organise perhaps because we have in the past been realtively immmune from the legislative consequences. That is about to change though and maybe this time we'll heed the wake-up call.

    So how about this then:

    Either become a legitimised airgun shooter by becoming a member of either an approved Associtaion or a club affiliated to an Association or give up the legal right to own and use a sub-12 fpe rifle.

    Food for thought?

    a little more attention to detail

    i think,without sounding patronising (ta) that we all should now be paying a more attention to the way we both use and carry our firearms! Social hysteria towards any form of air weapon will, for a brief time, be high; with the government doing its utmost towrds getting its fires burning in the direction of banishment. It is at times like this we should all be doing our utmost to present ourselves as responsible professionals and not the pariah's the media is likely to portray.

    what a plonker!
    send him down the swanny for at least life, the charge should be made to be attempted murder as he was using what our beloved goverment call " an air weapon", which as we are all aware is capable of taking out a rather large lee g at around 35-45 yards.
    it was obviously a pillock who was behind the rifle so give him to big bert in cell 25s parkhurst jail! <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
