    Newbie Surrenders

Got home from the pub at 3.30 pm after 6 pints of cheap lager. After watching telly for a while I see a young woody taking the mick by standing on my pride and joy.If any car buffs interested its a Saab 9 5 Aero nice and clean but about to be covered in crap.Anyway after banging on the window its still there. So I went out and gave it a talking to .Wouldnt have gone out if there were loads of them in case I got attacked , it might have had a knife!!lots in the news lately afraid. Anyway it wouldnt budge so I opened the car and got the camera. I have another pic with the dam thing looking at a cold drink which my younger other half decided to give it.She said it was tired!!!!
Anyway this really is the laststraw. After 9 visits to farmers,11 letters and 6 phone calls to farming customers I still cant find a shoot.Yet the squirrels and woodys are rubbing my nose in it begging me to use my new AA400.I can see a bargain on the horizon for someone!!!Anyway hope the photo gives a laugh and if you want the one wih the bowl of water let me know.

    Frustration

    Cheeky bugger.
My problem is Jackdaws. There is a patch of green about 1/2 acre in front of my house where a least two dozen Jackdaws walk back and fore looking for insects. All day they walk to and fro, taunting me. They rarely fly anywhere, they just walk slowly and calmly out of the way of danger. They must know I am not allowed to shoot them. Yet when I go on a shoot I will see rabbits, woodpigeons and sqiurrels but not one single blimmin' Jackdaw. I find them entertaining as they are pretty intelligent.

Like you Paul wherever I go these days, shopping in town, visiting friends, in public places, in fact anywhere where shooting is out of the question I seem to see and hear magpies just yards away, taunting me up close with their raucous jabbering. But on my shooting ground I rarely manage to get within 100 yards of them.

Yup, had a grey Squirrel sat 6 feet away from me today at work. I was just thinking "if I had my gun right now you wouldn't do that would you?"

Keep at DJ53! Try 200 letters with SAE reply card to farmers and expect about 2% reply back.

Hi Eagleman, Did that superhuman effort bring results? I am sending letters out with a SAE and I am telephoning a few of our account customers requesting permission and the odd personal visit. One chap rents his field out to someone with cattle and he has asked that I phone back in Mid November when they are taken off his fields. So thats one positive result. I am thinking of asking on the site if someone local might take me out with them on their shoot with a view to showing me the ropes etc.

I have very little practical experience with an air rifle even though an old fart who spends to much time in the pub.So I have no problems with asking for assistance. I dont fancy target shooting etc as I always enjoyed the stalk etc. David
