Has anybody on the BBS up-rated a pumper?

The post about the take-down pumper got me thinking. Has anybody on the BBS up-rated a pumper?

I know about the Mac1 Steroid guns, (they would be FAC in the UK) the Sharps, Sheridans and that nice Daystate all of them do 12 easily and are designed for more.

My interest would be in taking one of should we say the “lesser guns” and doing something with it. It may be sad but I like taking things to bits!

I suppose the obvious candidates are the Chinese B(?) cheap as chips and muli-shot, or one of the Crosmans, has anybody tried ?

I wouldn’t mind having a go at one myself.

I don’t want to start the argument again about pumper’s but let me say that I don’t consider them very practical. I know others disagree and I accept their opinions. Interesting though that some people seem to be able to pump them with their little fingers. Maybe I was pumping (Bluestreak C2) too much 10-12 pumps, up to 7/8 was easy enough but after that…….

    yep, crosman.

    Just increased the valve volume.

More pumps required to attain the same pressure, but once you get there, you gain 1-2 FP

PS reducing check valve return spring strength makes pumping a bit easier too <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

Been there tried that I think the 766 parts are still in the workshop, Crosmans dont take well to being stripped and fiddled with, too much monkey metal and plastic.

Mind you I'm the worst gunsmith in the world.

    Yup.

It was called a Sportsman I think and it had a side mounted pump leaver.

4 pumps to 12 FPE and in FAC up to about 18-20 fpe.

Been out of production for some time and as rare as hens teeth.

Daystate started off making pump rifles , I think the early seventies, these worked like the sheridan with bolt action but much more robust, I think they were called the Huntsman, they could be bought in FAC
and I seem to remember a lot of them were used by pest control firms.

Darren Petts has tweaked Innovas to give startling performance, you could ask him.
