    'powerfull' Crosman CO2's

    why are Crosmans CO2's more powerfull than the usual cO2 airrifles?
    do they use a special technique 2 achieve this?
    like 2 know,'cos I'm playing with the idea of making my 7.5J CO2 rifle more powerfull

    I'm not so sure that they are. The Ratcatcher I've got was claimed to be "full hunting power". I suppose that it depends on what you fancy hunting with 7 ft lbs...

    The RabbitStopper I had was around the same power, despite the longer barrel and the 1077 is about the same power as a good water pistol.

    Maybe they've got a very aggressive marketing team that don't worry about their adverts being "legal, decent and honest."

    ?????????
    I thought their rifles were full-power legal limit?
    well,7Ft is still way more than my tau 200's 7.5J!(5.5Ft)!!<img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    It's fairly easy to get a Crosman to put out 11.5 ft/lb and give around 20 shots/capsule at that. You can get more but shot to shot consistency does a runner much above that

    The funny t hing about crosman is they`r e usually a b it more powerful than their counterparts yet built like crap.

    Take the 1377 and 1322 the grips are made out of rubbish plastic and has thin monkey metal for the handle,which is far to small and thin anyway.
    The 1008 co2 gun is more or less a plastic cap gun with a co2 holder,valve and steel barrel <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_confused.gif" alt="Confused" width="15" height="22"><!--graemlin:-->

    Darren, how do you do that,raising a Crosman's power to 12Ft?

    Longer barrel (2260) / heavier hammer spring / lighter valve spring / decent breach in metal / longer pellet probe / recrown barrel / CAREFUL work in the valve with a dremel.
    It's well documented in several places on the web and you should get chrono results like this

    I find Crosman tend to be pretty accurate on their descriptions of power.

    Where did it say that the Crosman Ratcatcher is full power? Most people now it produces 8 ft/lb.
    The manual says it does 550 FPS, that is not 12 ft/lb, so crosman are not lieing in the manual.

    The 1008 pistol does have a plastic frame, but it produces the power it says, 430 FPS with 7.9 g pellet, look at it this way the P338 auto has a metal frame but it is a lot worse than the 1008.

    The 1077 rifle says it does 625 FPS in the manual wit 7.9 pellets, this is a pretty accurate description of power about 6 ft/lb, it is only meant as a fast plinker.

    The Ratstopper is probably the only one that is misquoted, although it is probably due to simmions putting this out, it must come with a manual, what does it say in the manual.

    And, hand on heart - how many people read the manual BEFORE they've bought the product?

    I had no illusions when I bought any of the guns - but I'd seen the "full hunting power" description in several magazine ads.

    Needless to say, my RatCatcher is no longer sitting at under 8 ft lbs <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    A mate and a i both bought ratcatchers and they were great fun to start with and a cheap way to get into the sport. But after wanting to kill rabbits etc we realised that we needed to upgrade and after 2 months both bought S200's which definately do the job and are well built unlike the ratcatchers!!

    Crosmans ads in the US are quite accurate. Keep in mind that these are "throw away childrens guns" too. Add that to the fact that co2 is temperature sensitive, so power drops off in cooler climes. RB

    12ft/lb Rabbit Stopper

    I purchaser the tune up kit and guidance video from T R Robb and my Rabbit Stopper now pumps out 12 ft/lb giving about 12 full power shots. Can be throttled back to about 10.5 ft/lb by putting back the weaker hammer spring. The main mod was to increase the flow of CO2 past the inlet valve and the capacity.

    is it still as accurate as it was at 12Ft?
    what do you mean by'one of the main mods..capacity change':you have a larger CO2 cilinder fitted?

    I believe what's meant is an increase in valve capacity to release more co2 each shot. In the valave I personally don't like bigger capacities but do smooth off the 90 degree angle from the valve to the barrel.
