I've just spent a most enlightening day, putting a selection of 36 pellets makes/breeds types, through my Rapid 12 mk 2, under reasonably clinical conditions.

There were some real surprises amongst them. Some foregone conclusions like Accupels and Daystate scoring/grouping well and others which will never see the inside of my barrel again.

The object of the exercise, as far as I was concerned, was to find the most consistent pellet in my 12 ft/lbs Rapid and decide on a heavyweight for Close qaurter encounters.

I have the full breakdown if anybody is interested, but I won't bore you all with it here and now.

Suffice to say that the best grouped at 4.42mm @ 20 yds and the top ten subbed 6.4mm. The very worst of them grouped at 53mm, but only 5 types scattered in this manner. I assure you it wasn't me. I did check.

A trully enlightening experience and one I would advise anyone to try at least once. Now, where did I leave my anorak????????

    Regards, Dev

Is that a Rapid MkII in .22 ?

If so, I'm interested in your results being a MkII owner also. However, I should really do this myself as I think the result you got are actually only relevant to your rifle and might not necessarily be relevant to mine.

Even so, I would like to take a look, just so I know where to start.

    Cheers

As often reported on the Board , one gun of the same make and model will fire a pellet and get good results and another might not.
Even though only a few numbers from the other model.

From my experience , it seems to come down to the manufactures.
And who finshed off the gun.

Also found that power increases do not always lead to good regular shots.

As also found, with precharge guns the temperature also effects there performance.

Add's to the fun of Air Gun Shooting.

Would be boring if you hit everything you aimed at every time <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Hi Dev,

Got you mail, thanks. Yep, Excel no problem.

Seems to tie in with the results I've seen from a few pellets I've tried, i.e. Accupels = very consistant tight groups.

I've been having good results with the AA Fields with groups that are almost as tight. I'm using AA Fields as I won 2000 of them at the weekend at the HFT <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

Again, thanks. Once I find some time I'm also going to try PellPax out and I'll let you know my results for comparison.

    Cheers

    Hi

Me too please ..... (for copy of your test results).

I've owned a Mk2 (.22) for just over a year and initially reckoned that Acupells were best - completely AGAINST Theoben's warning sticker with the gun, which said aviod Crosmans at all costs. Also found good results with AA Field.

Have also tried such as H&N FT Trophy and some Super H Points (neither liked by the Theoben).

Be good/useful to see your findings.

    Cheers
