    Does Loctite Removeable Threadlocker 243 affect bluing?

    A friend has recently fixed a pair of swivels on his HW90. The front swivel is too close to the breech and is touching the stock whilst being cocked.

    Unfortunately, he has also used the above mentioned Loctite product. If the swivel (Uncle Mike's QD) were to be removed would it remove some of the bluing?

    Thanks.

    Hi Russ,

    The U.Mikes QDs which I have installed on my HW90 came with shims which could be used in case the swivel was a loose fit on the barrel.Your friend should have tried any plastic shim b4 using loctite!!!!....Unable to understand why he fitted the swivel so close to the breech end(unless he was trying to mimic a FWB 124)....where were you when he need u most <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Roll Eyes" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->.... <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->.
    Anyway if the loctite does leave a mark,use a blueing pen to touchup the area.....

    Not my fault, Guv. Only met him after he had put the swivels. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    P.S.: We all know what to do if the bluing is removed but that wasn't the question, was it? <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Roll Eyes" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    It probably won't remove the bluing, but the Loctite is a royal pain to remove. He'll likely need either methyl ethyl ketone or some methylene chloride to remove the loctite. RB

    you can get loctite glue remover, made by loctite. I'm sure they'll have loads of "official" trademarked removers over there <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
    I'll try and find out the correct description of it tomorrow, at work.
