    How bad do you smell?

    After recently reading several interesting threads on disguising your smell from the quarry, they got me thinking…

    Have you ever smelled your rifle the next day after cleaning and oiling the blueing? It stinks! So, for the last week, I’ve used Mr Sheen furniture polish with good results; it not only brings out the finish much better than an oily rag, after a few hours, no smell! (well, that I can detect).

    As it is wax / oil based it should protect the metal well too.

    After 20 years of wandering around Armoured Workshops sniffing the arousing aroma of pre-combat ready Tanks, I have to say my sense of olfactory perception is somewhat less than optimal.

    However, rather than wander aorund my local 'Foret' emitting the stench of freshly bonked 'G-Plan' furniture, I'll stick to gun oil, thank you very much.

    French rabbits can't actually tell the difference. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    No offence my friend - a cheap shot, I'll grant you....... <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    This advice coming from a man for whom it took years to lose the odour of leather and saurkraut, then whisky and 'irn broo and now has to avoid soap and rub garlic on his armpits just to be allowed into the local 'supermarchet'

    I jus' love the smell of napham (sp?) in the morning.
    Sorry Mr Sheen doesn't get near the esoteric olfactory image. Remember Castrol R, a smell to linger and evoke memories. Old musty gun oil, Ooooh yes, cordite, sulphur, rat's tails ...
    MR SHEEN LEMON ESSENCE....No magic for me I'm afraid.

    Take care, Voldy
