    Counterfeit Tasco on fleabay

I recently bought a Tasco branded 3-9X50 mil-dot scope on fleabay very cheap (for a Tasco).
It came in a mickey-mouse box with instructions that were written in very poor English, there was no evidence on the leaflet to suggest that it came from the Tasco factory - address, phone number etc.
I've now found out that quite a few other makes of scopes are being counterfeited in the far east.
Luckily my total outlay was only £32, the buyer protection department at fleabay was totally useless so I have decided to put my loss down to experience.
    BUYERS BEWARE!!!

The optics are not the best, I have a genuine Tasco that I bought with my HW80 from Hull Cartridge Co. back in 1983, its about as good as that one.
You get what you pay for I suppose but when I complained to fleabay about counterfeit stuff being sold on their site, they turned a blind eye!
Seems this guy (and quite a few others in the far east) are high volume sellers and fleabay makes a lot of money from them.
Doesn't stop there either, almost everything that comes from the far east is a copy, or "replica" as they sometimes describe the stuff.
    Buyers beware!

A genuine Tasco 2.5-10x42 milldot varmint can be had for £69 from JSR, so £32 for a 3-9x50 is not all that unrealistic, especially from an internet shop with no overheads etc

I've had the same experience, optics were clear, mil dot was accurate, and clicks were good, however they turned in the opposite direction to what the arrow said, for example when turning the turret to bring POI up, it would actually bring the POI down.

Again ya get what ya pay for!

In few years from now you won't be able to buy anything that isn't made in China

I'm chugging around on a Chinese copy of a Honda, third of the price so I can chuck it away when it starts to fall apart but I'll steer clear of wonky scopes.

    scope

I was daft enough to buy one of these scopes from a company called "Soldsmart" advertising on ****, on using the scope the turret fell off!, this after 30 to 50 shots.
As you have all stated E bay did not really want to know, (do they ever?).The way i got round it was to warn the seller, that I would intercept every single bidder on these scopes and warn them they would be better off strapping a coke bottle to their gun.
This did the trick i warned at least 20 prospective buyers.
Soldsmart also charge an extortionate £12 delivery on their shoddy goods.
They refunded me, and asked me to return the scope, (which i had since binned) I sent an E mail back requesting a cheque for £12 to cover postage, aint heard nothing since
