    Pellpax Results through AA S200

Finally took time today to put loads of different pellets through the S200, courtesy of Pellpax. Amazing what a difference the pellet can make.

10 pellets fired at each target from 30 yards (sitting). Up till now I have been using 4.51 Daystates, but I reckon a change to 4.52s is in the air.

    quite right

    Yeah, amazing isn't it?
One might be forgiven for thinking that any high quality pellet would work reasonably but that just isn't the case; you really really do have to put the time in to testing each brand out, certainly before you hunt.

I'm surpsrised the Barracudas are so bad. Were they the worst of the samples?

The Barracuda groups looks like it is spread laterally ... there wasn't a cross wind was there? Although the top group is clearly what the doctor ordered.

There was a little bit of wind, but not enough to make the difference shown, and all were within a 45 minute time slot, so conditions were pretty even. And no, the Barracudas were not the worst.

The S200 didn't like any of the flat headed (match) pellets, which I guess are intended for shooting at 10 metres. Neither did it like any of the hollow pointed pellets.

Favourites seemed to be the Air Arms Field, or Daystate Field. In both cases the preffered size was 4.52.

If you have your own S200, don't take these results as gospel for your own gun, as I am sure they all differ in their own way. However, if you find the thought of putting a load of different samples through your gun to see which suits it the best a bit off putting, my own results may be sufficient to give you a starting point.

I wish you had done your experiment a few months ago as it would have saved me a small fortune finding out what my S200 preferred <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Roll Eyes" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
I have to agree fully with your results.
My S200 hates anything made by Crosman, won't tolerate wadcutters or hollowpoints but with AA Field, well, superb results. Incidentely, have you tried Wasps? You might be surprised!
