    Sting or Not to Sting HORNET is the Question

    I took delivery of a .22 BSA Hornet on Friday,
    No sooner had I got it, I was back out the door heading for my local Club.

    First Impressions, <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> looks the part all I had to do was give it a thorough test:

    First on the Range: Had it Zeroed in a jiffy, & then ****** HELL! <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_eek.gif" alt="Eek" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_eek.gif" alt="Eek" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_eek.gif" alt="Eek" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> THIS RIFLE IS BETTER AT GROUPING THEN MY PRO-TARGET.

    I haven't come across a rifle that is capable of shooting like that! Even Rayowl had to comment on it.

    After doing so well on the Range, I decided to give it a pasting Hunting, It took every shot in its stride I know where I put that Dot Weather permitting is exactly where the pellet went.

    My confidence was getting better & better as were the shots!

    Trev, got out the big Chrono so I put a few throw it 16 grain LaserDomes did brilliant 571.5, 571.5, 571.5, 571.5, 571.5 my Pro Target isn't that good & it's a press ion machine <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Using my S10 I can comfortably take Rabbits @ about 50yards tried a 60 yarder Stander & YES <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> it went down clean!!! <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> I was that surprised I called my matte to show him how far away it was, other wise no one would believed me would they <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> he said pace it, it was 54 of my lanky paces to the fence & 10yrd across the path TOP Bananas <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> first I thought it was a fluke.

    But I managed to get another shot at about the same distance my mate reconed it was a bit further but that was plotted up so not as good as the Stander.
    By the time it was time to go I was buzzing managed a Maggie felt even better <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->.

    When I got home I couldn't believe how accurate it was, put's nearly every rifle I have played with to shame! The only problem I had was I missed the luxury of a sling & the multi-shot.

    My Super10 is being serviced at the mow so it's in the number-1 slot. I miss not shooting a T/H so I am looking at a thumbhole stock tomorrow, going to try put it onto the Hornet, if things carry on going as they are I'd have dropped the S10 in favour of the Hornet.

    Worth every Penny & then some puts a lot of expensive Rifles to shame.

    I am going to have it at Redferns so if you want a go you know where to look <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Been using the .177 version of late. Absolutely cracking bit of kit on accupells and currently £275 if you buy them at the right place

    Actually........

    I have recently purchased a .177 BSA Hornet for the princely sum of £265 inclusive of vat (brand new) from a certain well thought of airgun shop. I wont mention names, but there is a big tower close by. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
    ps....really pleased with my hornet too.
    regards

    Price I saw was at Sportsmans Guncentre but can't beat Andy's price. That's sod all more than a S200 and well below a S400! BSA must be shifting these by the container load at those prices. They certainly deserve to.

    I wonder how it has affected sales of the S200 & 400?

    hate to think what it will do th the market when the mag version hit's the streets <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->around Xmas time.
    Looks like the Hornet really does have a sing in it's tail, must be hard for Air Arms, Hornet stings can be nasty <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
