Blazer simmons v varmint 1

Does anyone have any experience of the blazer simmons 6-24*50 as advertised by JSR. Are the optics superior to the now reduced varmint 1, which is about the same price? I have never heard of this scope before.

Thanks
Alex

I've had both the 6-24 blazer and 8-32 varmint. The Blazer is way better optically but no mil-dots.

Thanks Darren,

Which begs the question, which one? I will mostly be hunting and so weight and length is important. If there is no real difference there, then is is the 32 mag one noticebly better for rangefinding, as I would like to do some HFT. However, is the light gathering better in the 24 mag or are the images about the same in both sopes?...ahhh so mny qustions

You can't rangefind in HFT!
32 mag will always be better at rangefinding than 24 given similar optics. You'd need a big jump in optic quality for a 24 mag to better a poorer quality 32 mag.
If mil-dots aren't important get the blazer as the optics are way better than the varmint (to qualify that I'll say that I've only looked through the one Blazer but many Varmints). The very best varmints I'd describe as adequate optically but the worst are awful and they do vary A LOT. If mil-dots are important on a high mag cheap scope then you could try a NC Star from e-bay.

They aren't true mil-dots but still provide extra aiming points. The NC Stars I've looked through (both of 'em) have been better than the Varmints for optic quality.
Didn't particularly notice any variation in weight/length but wasn't measuring either.
Worth pointing out that you'll need high mounts for the Blazer/NC Star which may not be great for the cheekpiece comfort. Medium mounts will do for the varmint. Warranty on the American made NC Star will be a pain if work is required.
You pays yer money etc...

oh mo throw another scope into the equation why don't you
Althoug I was quite interested in a mil dot scope it is only a gimmick aas far as I'm concerned and I value optical quality more.....
Have you heard of Dowling and Rowe, because there's an 8-40 for £55 in the other section. Not really sure about buying second hand as the last one I did doesn't focus below 30yrds on 18 mag. Anyway, thank you for the detailed reply. The scope going on a bullpup, so no need to worry about hight
