As Ian said get the plenum silencer insert, I did last week .

It reduces the crack a fare bit although not as much as a parker Hale or Logun but its £8.50 and not £49.95 like the Logun

I also got a logun with adaptor, great silencer, very quiet, but it did seem to overbalance to the front of the gun. The plenum in itself is a natty little device and worth every penny.

...and of course you lose the HC bit as it is 6 odd inches long

Ripley Mini silencer (5") will also screw straight on with no adapter and works very well, £30 direct from Ripley.

One of the members has found that the plenum silencer led to inaccuracy in his HC. He is going to check it in another HC just to make sure it isn't the rifle.

Accuracy was good with a PH silencer and no silencer at all.

Has anyone else encountered accuracy problems with a plenum silencer?

I am the one Rustam is referring to. I noticed when using the AA plenum insert silencer, my groups were significantly bigger than without a silencer or with the Parker Hale silencer.

I started cutting pieces of the plenum silencer and with each piece I cut away, the grouping became a little bit smaller . At the end, I only had the threaded part of the silencer left and the grouping were OK again, but the silencing part was not that good anymore .

I ordered another AA silencer to see whether it was the silencer which was faulty, but got bad groupings as well with the new AA silencer.

I yet have to try in on a friend's gun to see whether it's caused by my gun. Anyone had similar experiences ?

Below are some grouping shot at 25 m (27.5 yards), the outer circle is 1". As you can see, with the PH or the modified AA silencer, groupings are easily below 1/2", but with the "normal" AA silencer, groupings are much wider.

To end my story, I made a silencer myself using the left-over of the AA insert silencer, a piece of PVC-tubing, the male-male adaptor I used to attach the Parker hale and a lot of tape . The overall length is 5 cm (2"), and it's as quiet as the Parker Hale (at least from the shooters point of view).

Groupings are as good as with the PH. It's was meant to be a "prototype", but it performs so well, I kept it as it is. Nicest part is it doesn't affect the balance and pointability of the HC .

    Cheers,

Consider the little RWS "Manders" silencer.

Only about 2.5 / 3 inches long, very light, just use a male-male UNF adapter and you're away

    Ditto Bob's "soundbiter".

    Jon,

Where can you buy them online and what is the approximate cost of both items?

    Thanks.

Rust, IIRC they are about 20 quid, I guess about a fiver for the adapter. Not sure who does them, I guess any RWS agent - maybe BAR or JSR ?

Not massively effective on 12 FP PCPs, but on my 6FP PCP (Falcon) pistol, and on springers (with their relatively low air volume), they are very effective for their small size...

You want me to keep my eyes open ?

You WOULD need an adapter but...

Best silencing option I tried for the HC.

Only about 4" long so doesn't compromise the Carbine length so much.
Plastic (hard nylon/delrin type material) construction so doesn't add much weight.

The Parker Hale worked well at attenuation as well but is longer and heavier.

I got my male-to-male adapter from Chambers
    at around a fiver.

The Logun is a fine silencer but the springs ring with the recoil.
IMO it's more suited to a PCP.
