Cleaning a Daystate Harrier X

I the manual for the harrier x it says dont use oil with rust inhibitors, but i have seen on a couple of threads people using wd40 and stuff. Will i completely screw my gun up if i use an oil, like 3 in 1 . The gut at mcavoys nr. wigan said it would be ok, so i bought a tin. Should i throw it in the bin and buy something else. Really dont want to make a mess of my new shiny harrier.

Silicone based oil only. Bisley do some @ around £3.00 for a puny little bottle but if used in conjunction with a silicone cloth it's fine and should last a while.

Does anyone know where I can get copious amounts of the stuff without paying through the nose?

Due to the chemically blackened matt finish on the Harrier X I only use gun oil, in my case whale oil without any additives, when I put my gun away for more than a couple of weeks. For daily wipe downs when the rifle is in constant use I use silicone cloths. It's wiped over every time it goes back into the cabinet. Follow Daystates advise and don't use WD40.

If for any reason you cannot use silicone based products ( icant because of work ) get intouch with Dave Brayford as he managed to source a suitable range of products.

Some manufacturers (Air Arms I believe) encourage the use of 3-in-1, but Daystate don't! They recommend silcone oil which is what I use on my X.

Whatever happens DON'T use WD40, it's a degreaser not an oil.
