    Pro Sport - why bother with anything else?

    I acquired a Pro Sport today with a Hawke Varmint 2.5-10x42 Mil-Dot ‘scope (never had a rifle in the girly calibre before) and it’s nothing short of wonderful. Six shots to zero the thing at 25 yards, another 5 to confirm then (with the help of ChairGun and the trusty CB625) and I hit the 40 mm spinner at 55 yards 8 times out of 10 – albeit resting on the equally trust workmate. Had a Tx200 (in the manly calibre) a while ago but it was nowhere near as quiet or useable or balanced – and that awful clattery anti-beartrap gadget meant that it had to go. Don’t think that this ‘un will be going the same way though…..

    In case you’re wondering: 11.5 Ft.Lbf out-of-the-box with AA field (8.1 Grain?)

    Questions, questions…..

    I don’t have an FAC (or any use for one at the moment) but, when I emigrate to Spain next year, can I get this PS uprated to the Spanish legal limit and get it shipped over there without getting an FAC here first? If so, how?

    I’ve bought some AA Fields (4.52) and some FT&T (4.51) and both seem fine. Would there be a better choice?

    One day, time etc will catch up with you and such spring rifle's will no longer be as easy as they are NOW! When a lot of BBS usesrs were as YOUNG? as you, all we HAD on offer were springers and we did enjoy our shooting as much then, as you are now. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    My first PCP was a .22 Webley Axsor and belive you me, to be able to load and shoot 8 shots WITHOUT loading each one, was a boon my old arthritic fingers and hands really did appreciate. I now have 18 PCP's and am really spoilt for choice. However, both Ripley's, the AA Pro-Target and the LR90 Bullpup are single shots, the rest are all multi shot. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    There's as much skill needed to acurately shoot PCP's, whether at targets, on a range or out hunting, as ever there was and STILL is with springers & gas rams. BUT without having to cope with the problem's of weight, recoil AND the fact that MOST SPRINGER/GAS RAM rifle's are a tad wee bit more pellet fussy than most PCP's. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Well, I asked this question before, and I can't remember what people said, but I think the Pro Sport is the last word in recoiling fixed barrel springers. How can it be bettered? Except it is too heavy. I don't have one myself, I like things that need to be tweaked to make them perfect.

    Although I’m 28 on the inside, the outside is twice as old….. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> No arthritic fingers (yet) ‘though I’ve still got the S410K for the multi-shot option (with several magazines). Pellet fussy? That’s why I asked the question….

    Yup, the PS is a tad on the heavy side although it seems better balanced that the similarly hefty TX200 I used to have. I suppose that walnut woodwork would shave a pound or so off?

    Anything better than a Pro Sport? Yeah, IMHO, a TX200HC (177 of course).

    Reason: The Pro Sport is a fantastic rifle but the TX cocking lever is more comfy to actually use, and the HC comes with an additional cocking aid which makes it even better.

    It'll take years for me to get fed up with my TX (if I ever do) and maybe I'll get a PCP one day - but I can't see myself ever selling the TX.

    Swop it for a Pro Sport? Nah, don't think so! <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
