    God made the rain <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> but if you don't clean them or at least ensure they are dried thoroughly after getting soaked, they will rust.

    This usually happens in the invisable places like between the woodwork & the steel areas. A good drying & a bit of Browning Legia spray should keep it in good working order.

    Some guns may need their stock removed to ensure proper drying & cleaning. Your gun your choice.

    yeah after being out in the rain, I wipe with an oily rag, then do the gun <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
    Then take action out of stock as said already droplets can be here, wipe down aaction with oily rag and replace, and bobs your uncle good as new.
    It is inevitable you will get caught in the rain once so make sure you dry properly,

    cheers Ian

    Usually only a prob if you shoot 'girlie' and your mascara runs too! <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->...stains the stock see!

    Separate stock from action, dry both, oil both,
    go to bed and reassemble next day...

    Do more wet shooting and repeat the above.

    stock off, action dried then a good coat of oil or silicone, dry the stock thoroughly and grease the action seat with a little Vaseline, no probs with rust, can rain or shine with not a problem with rust.

    The other alternative is to have a cover made so that you can shoot in the rain, I just wish I had a photo but the guy who had one at our club left before I got a digital camera, swine <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    And how about a Chairgunner routine for shooting in rain? <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Roll Eyes" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    I have a S10 (2yrs+) shoot most sundays rain wind sun frost. I always put gun oil on when new and always use the same cloth to re apply. I always keep that cloth in my gunbag and after rainy shoots wipe down thoroughly. Periodically strip & oil thoroughly.No rust or marks at all.

    Well said Bob. With Stealths you don't have to worry about scratching the gun either. I carry a permanant black marker in my gunbag. No worries about re-blueing or re-finishing the stock.

    Rain doesn't bother my Ripley with Paul Wilson Stock, as long as certain things are done afterwards. As a test I once left it out for three hours and it was coming down like stair-rods.

    When I get it home I immediately take the action our of the stock. Using soft cloths (old t-shirts) I wipe all the rain off the stock (inside and out) and put to one side (for 24 hours).

    I then wipe down the action and scope exterior. After that I clean the barrel with napier cloth on a pull-through. Then I take the back cap off the action and withdraw the hammer. I inspect the hammer chamber for ingress of water along the bolt channel. There usually is none but I dry the chamber nonetheless. I also wipe and re-oil the hammer and re-grease the hammer spring. After putting back together I then give the scope lenses a clean with a silk cloth and lens fluid. The action and scope is then left for 24 hours along with the stock.

    I must add this is only after a major deluge. If it's just a shower I only wipe down the outside of the action and stock.

    Usual places to give me grief are the heads of the allen screws in the scope mounts. They are the devil to dry and seem to be hell bent on going rusty at their first opportunity.
