    I managed to kink one of the springs - still works OK. The Remy 597 was much easier to work on.

    IIRC the Magtech is essentially a copy of the Marlin detachable-magazine semis such as the old Model 70 and 7000 and the current Model 795.

    The 7000 I had was pretty good: so if the Magtech is an accurate copy, mechanically speaking, it shouldn't be bad either.

    Personally, I never found stripping / reassembling my 7000 a problem, though: so maybe they're not the same inside after all.
