    ChairGun V1.6.0 - bigger, better .... well, bigger anyway.

    G’day;

    Chairgun V1.6.0 has just been uploaded ***here***.

    Lots of improvements and refinements have been added (thanks to everyone on this BBS who responded) especially for the FT shooter rather than the hunter. All of the hunting features are still there though. The Visualization is much faster, has new reticules and now starts at a bigger size. It’s now resizable.

    The ‘websites’ have all been moved to my server (rather than being imbedded) and there is on-line help added under the 'help' menu. I’m really cr@p at writing manuals so if you can suggest any improvements, please let me know. Similarly, if you can recommend any good retailers/gun shops let me know and I’ll add the links.

    Have a look and tell me what you think.

    Hi Dave.

    Looking forward to trying the latest version <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Don't know if you caught this thread - but I'm convinced it does exactly what it says on the tin!

    FT Endorsement

    Cheers,

    Paul. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Seems to work then? The relative/absolute clicks bit on the V1.6.0 trajectory graph (in FT mode) might be a bit of help too.
    Doing what it says on the time was all it was supposed to do!

    These are the breaks. Striving as I do to (a) get it right and (b) include the features that folk ask for does mean that new versions will appear from time to time – it’s over a week since V1.5.6.(!)
    Unless I’ve messed-up bigtime with V1.6.0 this’ll be the last for a while. I’m tinkering with an FT simulator at the moment – as suggested ages ago by Numb Nut – based largely on the Visualization module of Chairgun. It’s looking good at the moment but I’m in no hurry to post it as yet.

    .... and yes, it would seem that way.

    Personally Dave I think you should get a BBS trophy for this program, or honory lifetime membership... oh yeah, you get that already.. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    I think each version is perfect, and then you come up with a new version that is even better. It's helped me fantastically for hunting and I can't see how it can get better. But then you'll probably discover something else that I'll realise I couldn't have managed without.

    Thank you very much for your time, effort and considerable skill.

    You’re too kind, swamprat. Any more and I’ll go all pink and giggly and swap to .177 <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Dave. Hope I'm not THE hunter. I hadn't looked but I expected to find field targets in the visualisation too. I would have suggested them if none there.
    Those people should also find the visualisation useful to. They really do have to account for the wind especially at 50 yards. Clicks can be used but the wind is a very dynamic thing. It can change all the time and a visualisation is bound to be useful.
    A thought on this subject that may be of some use.
    I'm in the process of taking up full bore target shooting at 300,500 and 600 yards with a 308. Here the wind direction is viewed as a clock face but only on one side as the correction is opposite on the other side. 2 wind vectors are shown on the score cards at varying strengths. Variations are simpley interpolated. The graph reads in MOA. The wind strengths are usually shown as flags corrisponding to .... drat, to be continued. I've left the book in Pembrokeshire.

    Rui V;
    Try navigating to the installation directory and deleting the chairgun.set and chairgun.prf files. Run ChairGun again and it should make nice new defaults (which should then work). I suspect that ChairGun had picked up old setup files that are no longer suitable. It's worked in the past.... <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Swamprat;
    Nah, 0.177's for pistols.

    I’ve just found a way of circumventing an accumulated rounding problem that’s been bugging me for days. It affects the label printing section in a fairly minor way. The problem is fixed now and I’ve uploaded the subsequent chairgun160.zip file to the download site. It’s only worth the extra download if you’re mega fussy about these things. I’m not but I just can’t leave it alone….

    I’m off to bed,

    I have kept all versions so far, and at this rate I will need a new hard drive soon. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
