Thread: Smallest, lightest springer?

Smallest, lightest springer?

I'm looking for ideas re a small(ish) lightweight springer for the Mrs. It needs to be full (or near full) power.

She's currently using a BSA Mercury - great rifle but it's about 3 million years old, so I'm looking for a sort of modern equivalent. Any suggestions?

PS HW95K and Webley Xocet are too heavy...

HW99s is smaller than the 95.

I think they only come in .22 and IMHO the length of pull is a little long for dwarfs/Ladies and Juniors but have a look and see what you think.

Vulcans (Xocets etc) may be reasonably heavy but the length of pull is very short which brings the weight closer to the shoulder and is more managable. Tracy (5'1') learned with one of these and was fine.

You know it's gonna end up being a S200!

I had a go with a friends BSA lightening the other day and was amazed how light that was! You could carry it around in one hand.

Dear DJP

Don't be a cheapskate, buy her a decent PCP. You will enjoy many good cooked meals and unbounded sexual favours as a result of your largesse. Then, being a girlie, she still won't be able to hit anything so you will inherit it. And still hold the moral high ground as she will feel guilty for not appreciating your generousity.

BSA Mercury = 7.12 lbs (J.Walther figs.)
HW95K = 7.25lbs (A.G.W. figs.) and the HW99S (.177 or .22) 7lbs (AGW figs.)

Do you know how to make it lighter?
Paint it white! (Sorry)

lightweight springer

As Boz' suggested HW 99s would be worth a look or even the '95K. BSA Lightening is pretty light too as are some of the GAMO range. I would still consider a pcp though such as an AA s200 or Falcon fn 12

PS Dear Agony Uncle,

Perhaps you can help me with something else, too: You see, recently... Well I don't really know how to say it but I've gone over to 177. I haven't told anyone else yet - what will my friends and family say? I only did it because my friend Buddyboy persuaded me. I feel so ashamed. Is there a way out? Or will I be shooting side saddle forever? I'm so confused!

Dear DJP

I recently spoke to Mr Budd. He informed me that he never drives North of Watford.

Something about getting his dinner money taken off him every time he does.

There is much discussion of relative calibres. It is bogus, do not be decieved. Manliness is about winning. .177 shoots flatter, you have more chance of winning. If you don't care about winning you probably wore your mums clothes a lot as a kid. So - the .22 shooters are compensating for inherrent homosexuality coupled with a small penis.

2 exceptions to this rule are :

.22 at FAC. Real mans stuff. Shoot this you will have to beat the females off with a ****ty stick. You will never sleep alone. (See advert for Ripley in the for sale section)

wife's underwear. This is very comfortable and to wear it is OK.

Dear Uncle,

How can I thank you? Everything is so much clearer now. Please find enclosed wife's underwear - she won't miss it.

Dear Agony Aunt,

Having read your posts I am now very confused...

I do shoot .177. However, recently, I have found myself making several homosexual related posts on this BBS.....and I have been blessed with an embarrassingly small penis!

Is there any hope?
