From all in the NWFTA rest in piece and deepest sympathy to Pauline and family
I don't know of anybody else who did as much for shooting and shooters as Dave. Honest, genuine and loyal. Everytime I left Dave I felt a little bit better than before I'd spoken to him.
Dave, to those who knew you, you are a giant
RIP
Sad loss of a Gentleman.
"Shooters, regardless of their preferred quarry, enjoy their sport for its ability to transfer them from their day-to-day life into a world where they can lose themselves for a few hours". B Potts.
Only met the chap twice on this years GP rounds, but he quite obviously was a great chap and did loads for all us FT shooters, plus many other I am sure. A good bloke that will be missed, my feelings go out to his Family especially at this time of year, such a loss.
A sad loss..and a person that WILL be missed by a lot of people... he was a good man.. and a friend to all that that even spoke to him.... even for a minute he had time for every-one..and lots of good advice... gutted...and shocked...
all of our best wishes for your sad loss pauline & family....
He will be greatly missed by the sport and the sportsmen involved, but will never be forgotten.
My thoughts are with his family and friends.
God Bless.

I met and talked to Dave on quite a few occasions and he also put himself out for me when I needed some new ratchet straps for East Devon FTC late last year, Sadly I never got the chance to shoot with Dave. My condolences to pauline and family from all at East Devon FTC and SWEFTA. RIP Dave ,a true gent and a giant of the airgunning world.

I'm another of those who Dave probably didn't know from Adam but in my first season of competition shooting this year I shot two courses that Dave had set and it has been obvious even to me that the man was a master of his 'trade'. That he had a great sense of humour was also obvious from that experience (although I may not have laughed much at the time).
As an ageing and increasingly selfish individual I gained a lot of satisfaction from knowing that the organisation of my new found sport was in the extremely capable and willing hands of the likes of Dave Baines.
The loss to the airgun world is nothing compared to that being suffered by Dave's family and my thoughts are with them in this time of great pain.
