David W Baines was a fine ambassador for our sport. I have shot with him many times at Redfearns and he was a true gentleman and a great shooter.
He will leave a void behind him at NEFTA and BFTA that will be very difficult if not impossible to fill.
I for one will think of him everytime I pick up an air-rifle.
We're going to miss David W Baines.

I only found out this morning from Sparky and am still in a state of shock. I've known Dave well before we started UKAHFT and first met him at the old Redfearns club site when I attended my first Daystate Challenge.

Dave had done a hellover lot for the sport, FT and HFT, and he will be sorely missed and my heart goes out to Dave's wife Pauline and her family at this sad time.

His ladder antics and excellent HFT courses will always stick in my memory.

This is the worst news I've heard this year. A man who has given so many fond memories, from his course building oddities to standing in the lake at the MGF a few years ago, demonstrating a MK3 underwater.

    Sometimes life doesn't seem fair..

They say that when a giant Redwood falls over in the woodlands of America, it doesnt make a sound..

I don't agree - one of the largest trees in the forest has fallen and I wish I could turn back time and do something about it.

I didn't know David, but I know of his endeavour and unquenchable enthusiasm. This is a rare quality and the gap in the canopy will be difficult to replace.

I have lost many of my close friends of late and as I get older, the phrase "there go I but for the grace of god" is now familiar.

    This is sad news.

Maybe even the good lord won't get a clear round now David is setting the course in what I hope is a far better place.

Mr Baines, You have my respect.
