    Simmons scope zeroing

Hi guys, sorry for yet another silly question, but recently i got a Simmons 6-24 x 50 Scope, on a combo but without instructions. There are no identifying marks as to what type it is, only the information above, a serial number, and the letters AO, which i presume means the Parralex adjustment?

I am trying to zero it to my S410 and am struggling just with the last little bit. My last few scopes have been Tasco and AGS which have had each click is 1/4" at 100 yards or whatever, it has actually said this on the scope. With this Simmons it just has arrows for directions and numbers from 0 to 9 with 8 lines in between them. Do i assume correctly that these lines are the same and just relate to 1/4" at 100 yds/m?

Also as an aside, when measuring group size, is it from the edge of the pellet hole or the centre, i cannot remember for the life of me as it has been so long since i shot in a competition.

    Thanks for your help.

Karl, the group size is normally measured from centre to centre. That means from the centre of the two furthest apart holes.

The scope issue is simple. It sounds like you have a BDC scope [bullet drop compensated]. Each click will be 1/4" adjustment at 100 yds, but the lines you refer to are for reference.

With these scopes you can set all your zero's from 10-55 yds and by placing a corresponding range sticker on the turret you just have to return the dial back to that mark for that particular zero. The lines are simply graduations so that you know how many turns, and which direction, to turn the dial to return to any zero mark.

Sounds complicated but it isn't really.

    Pete.

    Snock,

Thanks for the info. I thought this was the case but am used to having it say on the adjuster, especially for simpletons like me! Thought if i asked i could do it right first time and know what i was doing rather than trial and error and not knowing next time!

Once again thanks and Merry Christmas (see i do read others posts, i was going to put Xmas!)
