    UK-HM Customs.Airguns.

    I have concerns regarding a legal air pistol getting through UK customs without delay, hassel or extra cost.
    Has anyone Recently done this?
    Any Facts most welcome.
    Thanks. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    You need to contact the Customs people and give them all the information regarding said pistol, and they can issue a customs number to go on the packing before it is sent, this will help speed things up and also they will not be surprised of the contents. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Calvino - Sorry no facts but ,since I work for said organisation, some general advice :-

    a) do not try to conceal it on the way through - we are a suspicious lot at the best of times and we take the "no smoke without fire" approach to lack of candour;

    b) bring as much documentation as you can - proof of purchase , chrono test results etc. If you can show that you have come prepared, the officer in the red channel is more likely to try to be helpful;

    c) you can probably expect him to call on a superior if he has little experience of firearms - weapons importation is a hot topic at the moment so at the very least you will need to show it is really an air weapon. How deeply they will look into the power rating will depend on their knowledge of the subject.

    Best wishes

    Just make sure you write air pistol UK Legal (target use only) on the posting form.
    You could add less than 4ft/lbs.

    Why "less than 4ft/lb" when the pistol limit is 6 ft/lb ? <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_confused.gif" alt="Confused" width="15" height="22"><!--graemlin:-->

    I do it most months, secret seem to be to write "UK Legal Air Pistol - Sub 6ft/ibs" clearly on the box.

    The parcels normally arrive having been opened and resealed (perhaps chronoed who knows?)but in good time.

    You are not commiting any offences so dont worry
