    re crosman ratcatcher

    been in the gun shop today seen one they look great but are they any good! there seem two types one with internal 12g powerlet and one with an external large co2 source so does this larger one give more power or just more shots? I have plenty of 12g powerlets which i use in my other pistols but they dont seem that powerful,yet the box said it was capable of killing rats(hence the name i suppose) is it or is it only really a plinking gun! any advice appreciated thanks guys.I must admit i prefer the look of the one without the external capsule.I want it for ratting and the occasional plink in the garden.

    I have a Ratcatcher with the 12g powerlets, I have the impression that the new larger co2 gives more shots per cannister(obvious innit) but they work out more expensive per shot. If you bulk buy 12g's you can get them £24 for 50(as you probably know) but the larger 88g's seem to be around £15 for 2(or cheaper). I wouldn't warrant using the Ratcatcher for hunting over maybe 15 yds. But they can be pretty accurate and a lot of fun. There is a multitude of custom parts and upgrades to be had. Above all I find it fun to use, so much quicker to use than a spring rifle. I tend to get 35-40 good shots per 12g.

    hope thats of some help, Ian <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Problems with rattys.

    • They tend to be expensive to run the new King Ratty even more so.
      If you run them near 12 FPE then their sensitivity to temperature could send them over on a hot day.

    There are some details :- http://ora8i.port5.com/ (no www)
