Fancy changing my classic length gun to a carbine.Air arms price the cylinder at 16.50,but will not sell to public because of health and safety(compressed air)- which is fair enough.I decided to see if my local gun shop could buy it on my behalf- Im capable of doing the job Ive done a lot of work with precharged guns.He said he could sell me one as he has them in stock,but charges 50 pounds,which Im not prepared to pay.Any body got any suggestions? Thanks Pete.P.S. no problem with the barrel Air arms supply for 45 pounds.

why not try asking on here for a swap .?

Thanks for that offer Numb nut,but was looking for an outright purchase for two reasons. No.1, I wanted to retain the old in case i wanted to refit it,and No.2, it has some small marks on it,so would not want to pass it on in snything but excellent condition. Looks like Ill have to buy a walnut stocked carbine to supplement my classic. Mmmm.......Walnut.

What AA is selling for £16.50 I would guess is the cylinder ie. a long hollow tube with no ends. This would have to be assembled with all fittings and cylinder plugs etc.
What you buy for an S200 is a finished item ready to screw onto the gun.

The thing is as an owner there is nothing to stop you taking the rifle to pieces.
In fact I removed and replaced the air cylinder and it was very very easy. Almost impossible to botch up I would've said.
So I don't see why you can't buy a new one. Very odd.

You're dead right Max. It's ALMOST impossible. But, if the thread on either end of the cylinder should pick up a speck of dirt as it's being screwed on, it will damage the threads and weaken them dramatically....result: the end plug of your cylinder or the cylinder itself taking flight. Not nice.
Some people are capable and some aren't. Up to the individual I suppose.

Pete, I've just reread your post. I think you might find that what your shop is selling is the complete cylinder with both end plugs in place and what AA were pricing you for was, as mentioned before, the hollow tube itself. If so, £50 wouldn't be far off the mark. Just a possibility.
