Sorry Buddy, but you've lost me completely. Je ne comprends rien.

    Edit:-
I've read your post a dozen times, but can't work out if you're trying to take the p**s out of me, the CFX or the more expensive guns in the market place! Must be old age creeping up on me!

Not out of you - that was a good review you wrote.
I've got both CFX Royal and 440 - get a bit fed up of so many posts in the airgun section making out that Gamo rifles are hopelessly inferior compared to certain other makes - but given the volume of grumbles about these more expensive rifles in other threads, do sometimes wonder how many of Gamo's critics have actually used one of their present day rifles.

OK Cheers! I'm with you now and see where you are coming from. You do have a way with words!!
There does seem to be quite a bit of brand/price snobbery around. IMO if you pay a lot for a top end product in any field, it ought to be 110% in every way. If you buy something more economical, you may have to make allowances for some aspects of it. Strange thing is that with the CFX, so far, I haven't found any allowances to make.
    Sorry for the misunderstanding.

It's details of a complete strip of a CFX with excellent photos.
Thanks for a most excellent guide. It has helped me a lot.

No probs Silo! Welcome to mainly Limey AirgunBBS! The guys on here have a lot of experience and knowledge which they share freely. I'm sure that for anything you need to know, someone here will have the answer.
You could also take a look at www.gatewaytoairguns.com
It's also a good forum, run by your countrymen; less active than this one, but plenty of good information and advice nontheless. There's a section specially for Gamos.

Thanks again, good site like you said. I'm a bit of a "half breed" I grew up in
South Africa and married an English (North Yorkshire) lass and came to live
in the USA about 12 years ago.... So I find reading real English refreshing

derekm, one question I do have is, how do you get the rubber inserts out
to get to the stock screws without damaging them?
I can replace the whole stock for $29 US so it's not the end of the world,
but I'd like to learn how to do it correctly.
    Any advice would be appreciated,
    Thanks.

    Silo,
The CFX Royal with the wooden stock does not have the rubber inserts, but I think you simply pry them out carefully with a very small screwdriver.
Drop a mail to Rich from Mich http://home.comcast.net/~peterdragin...ml/default.htm
He will be able to tell you precisely, as he works on your version all the time.

    Thanks Derek,
I contacted him today, I might just send him the whole rifle and let him
    do his magic with it.
I'll just have to get it past the boss ...... which might take a wine and dine
    on Friday night

Slight thread drift I have a 20 year old Gamo cadet owned from new, a bit down on power maybe (memory could be fooling me!) but it's all still ok despite not having had a moments tender loving care!

I don't doubt your Gamo is still OK. Maybe they would be more popular in the UK if they cost more! Just look at the £80+ jeans on the market. Jeans = workclothes (originally).

Well I sent my CFX off to Rich on Monday, he's working his magic
on it as we speak, I should have it back before next weekend.
I'll put up a "Pre and Post tune" review when I get it back.
Thanks for giving me his name Derek, he seems to really know his stuff.
I can't wait to feel the CFX after everything he plans to do to it for me.

Not only does Rich know his stuff, but he's also an extremely pleasant guy to deal with. While emailing him questions about his trigger insert, he said "send me a stamped envelope and you can have one to try". Also, when querying the whereabouts of my tuning kit (late due to Christmas mail as it turned out), he immediately offered to re-send the package, without question of payment, claim forms, or anything. A 110% good guy to deal with.

Both he and Charlie da Tuna (Bob Werner) seem to have equal amounts of positive customer feedback on the US Forums, apart from the Yellow, where Charlie's name is banned due to internal politics with Forum owners.

okay.... not too sure if this is a right place, but here's the after tune report
    I promised.

I got my CFX back from Rich last night, after he had done a custom tune on it for me.
This is the sequence of events / things I saw upon opening the box:

    1. Custom Muzzle break looks awesome.
    2. The carbon look on the barrel took me about 20 minutes to get used to, but I have to admit that now I like, it gives
    the rifle a “trick” look.
    3. It also looks a lot “cleaner” with the sites off.

Now for the stuff that matters:

    1. The rifle cocks very smoothly. You cannot even begin to compare it to
    how it was before.
    2. The loading block, a lot improved here:
    a. It turns / rotates very easily and very smoothly now
    b. The pellets literally just “drop” into the barrel now too.
    c. I can immediately feel when the loading block catches a pellet now b
because of how much easier it rotates.
    d. It no longer over-rotates, this is great. I never realized that it bugged
me till it stopped doing it hehe!
    3. The trigger, it is super light now, took some getting used to not having to
pull the "door spring". All it takes now is a gentle squeez....... like it
    should be.
    4. Did I mention how quite it is now

Rich this rifle is Awesome, thank you very much.

    Roald.

PS I'll post pics of the rifle with the custom muzzle break... looks sweet!
and the chrony results - it gained almost 100fps !
