Best pellet for S-16 and where to buy them mail order?

    1) What is the best pellet for the (non FAC) Logun S-16 (latest shrouded barrel version)?

    2) Can you please recommend a place to buy the pellets mail order who won't try to rip me off on carriage (I'm in Orkney)?

    Hi Chris,

My S-16 loves Crosman Accupells, although it's a MK 1, not the bullbarrel.

This is also the brand AirgunSport/Logun itself recommends for the S-16.

JSR, BAR and Uttings all sell these, and there's usually a discount for buying 10 tins or more.

However, not all guns are alike, and one gun can prefer a diferent pellet to a seemingly identical other rifle.

So if you haven't done so already, you could buy a few different tins, or go to Pelllpax and buy an assortment which they put together so you can do your own comparative tests.

    HTH,

Thanks for the info -we get absolutely shafted for carriage up here, so buying multiple tins to try out is punitively expensive. All we have is AA Field 5.52 (which work great in my FAC Axsor) and Logun Penetrator 16 grain. I went to Pellpax site - how many of each pellet do they give you? Can they make up custom assortments?

A friend of mine has an S16 and was recommeded Accupells because apparently, the S16 was designed with them in mind.
We have found that, although it shoots them well, they give some of the lowest muzzle energy readings of any pellet.
AA Field and Logun Penetrator add nearly a ftlb to Accupells in his S16 and seem pretty accurate - although he sticks to Accypell as he has lots to use up!
I don't know of many rifles that can't shoot Fields well.
Another buddy has an old 5.6mm Airsporter that apparently likes Fields, believe it or not, despite the minor calibre difference.

I think the success of AA Field is because they are slightly chunkier in the skirt than many pellets, allowing a good fit in the barrel, yet they are soft enough to mould to the rifling without excessive loss of energy. They have good aerodynamics too.

    Anyway...to the point...
I think that Fields and/or Penetrators should be OK.
As always, you can only find out by trying some.

I shoot with a Logun S-16 and have only ever used Accupells - they do the job for me. As stated earlier in the thread, these can be bought mail order from all the main mail order suppliers.

    Cheers
