    Career 707 convert to F.A.C or sell +buy F.A.C.career

    will cost £100 couriers R.F.D conversion etc.
    are there any disadvantages in having a converted
    707 than buying one which has always been F.A.C.
    mine is a .22 carbine under 2000 shots

    I shouldn't think there'll be any disadvantages as long as the company or person uprating it is reputable.

    I would think one of the benefits of selling would be to buy a rifle instead of a carbine, as FAC doen't half use air quickly.

    The carbine is way "handier", but for sniping at FAC levels the efficiency and air capacity of the rifle is a big advantage. The Rifle is seriously LONG though !

    Trouble with FAC airguns is they sell for less than their 12FP equivalents, so your conversion will effectively cost you the 100 quid, plus say 75 quid "depreciation".

    If you can find an FAC career secondhand, this will save you a bomb - just sell your 12FP one.

    Last point, 100 quid seems a bit steep to be honest (knowing exactly what's required) - who are you using ? I would have thought RangeRight could come up with something better value - (and their gunsmith is very good on Careers <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> )

    I had my Career uprated by a local RFD, cost me £90 and they had the rifle a month! Plus when it came back it wouldn't go upto 80fpe. As it stands the rifle is better at 45-50fpe IMO.

    As Jon says, it is a simple job with the right parts from Rangeright, but you may fall foul of the law if you do a conversion yourself. That's the reason mine was taken to an RFD.

    These beasts are air hungry, so I would advise going for the rifle, but if you prefer pointablity over number of shots, have the carbine uprated. I went for a Career 707 Target for the higher cheekpiece.

    And if you know what you're doing Jons trigger mods for the Career are excellent, totally transformed my rifle, thanks for the advice Jon! <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    Thanks for advice all. will prob sell or exchange
    for fac career.
    rangeright £5o but would only send back to rfd min £10 paper work involved .then carriage both ways adds up to about £100 had not thought of gun
    being worth less when done!

    Best to send the rifle back to Range Right. I've had a couple of my Careers repaired modded etc by them and the chap that does it for them is top notch. Longest one's been away was 10 day's, but I posted that one, the others it took direct. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    The Carbine's a very tasty bit of stuff at FAC powers, normaly about 18 - 25 shots at 50 ft.lbs, but IF you've a crono, even the CB625, set it at around 35 - 40 ft.lbs and fill with 250 bar of air and you'll get a few more extra shots. The long barrel rifle does give you more shots at 80 ft.lbs. PROBLEM is that 90% of silencers just do not work at those powers. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    If it were me mate, I'd keep the Carbine for general short range hunting and buy a BRAND new MkII FAC Rifle, that is IF Range Right have got any in stock and they are at present awaiting the new stock for the Christmas rush. Just as a bit of side info I have 2 x .177 Career 707 MkII Target Rifles, 1 x .22 MkII Carbine NEW! and 1 x .22 Long Rifle MkII which IS, along with a .20 Customised Career, from the USA, awaiting (a) me completing moving. (b) Return of FAC, which I gave up after Dunblane. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    I have a carbine "might" be for sale. FAC'd by the gentleman at rangeright. I'll second that it is THE way to go. might gets over 40 shots without change in poi. The rifle was way too long for me especially with a silencer on the front.
    If you want FAC buy one ready done it's much cheaper.
    I did it the other ie, paid to send it, paid to be done, paid rfd for taking delivery and after all that its worth less than a <12ft/lb gun.
    when it's been to rangeright the career in whatever guise is a brilliant gun and I prefer it to the buddy bottle guns. The carbine is very pointable adjustable and well made.
    BTW one of the gunshops in the airgun guide is still selling them but I thought they were'nt importing them any more which is a shame cos they are very good guns and like I say the gunsmith is also a good guy who works wonders and the backup is A1 which is better than can be said of some
