Is the mag seated correctly and locked into position with the catch...?
Never argue with an Idiot.............They will only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
It isn't likely to be a serious problem.
Most likely is the locking catch, otherwise, the mag indexing arm spring may have popped out (if someone has tinkered).
Fill in your profile and someone who lives nearby may be able to help. If you're near to me, I'll take a look at it.

Yes I put the mag back in very carefully and it was seated correctly. Then slid the catch that holds it in place. One of the guys gave me some silicone grease but that did'nt do anything.Think the problem is internal. It has'nt been forced or abused as it is new and I've been extra careful handling it.It came on gradually did'nt hear or feel anything snap or grate..Sorry if I have'nt filled my profile correctly, am new to this forum.I'm just outside hackney london Thanks for the replys.![]()

Thanks for the replyHave'nt tinkered with it at all.Would be afraid to try and do anything with the internals in case I damaged it.do'nt know enough about air rifles to tackle repairs/ alterations etc. When the mag is removed you can see that the "mag idexing arm spring" is not doing its duty.
I definitely do'nt want to open it up so I most likely will have to send it back to suppliers.Think I am too far away for a helping hand. Thanks again
Don't want to teach my grandmother to suck eggs, but you have remembered that the mag won't index until the mechanism is fired haven't you?
just what I was going to say and be careful

If it's new, especially if you're unfamiliar with the design, you'd best take it back to the shop or contact Hull Cartridge. If you start messing, you might break something and lose your waranty.
Unfortunately, you're too far away from me. It'd only take five minutes to ascertain what's wrong if you can find someone who is familiar with the HW100.

DON'T PUT SILICONE GREASE ON YOUR GUN ANYWHERE

Silicone grease on moving metal parts.![]()
Oh sh!!t, I hadn't noticed that.![]()

As I had suspected it was a bad idea to have put a dab of silicone grease on to the magazine indexer in the hope it would by magic begin working againonly put a tiny amount on at the club and when I got home I tore a small strip of paper and scraped it of carefully. Why is so bad though? and to warrant such brightly coloured letters
I use a small amount of silicone oil sprayed onto a bit of tissue after I have used the rifle ..is that ok? or would you reccommend something else? just dont want to have any rust problems down the road.
Bengarzy posted a thread on silicone grease and how it seized a loading bolt on a gun he looked at.
A couple of quotes from Cardew's excellent book regarding silicone oils:
"...it is not suitable for the lubrication of metal surfaces rubbing together..."
"...Silicone, however, is an exceptionally good oil for protecting the metalwork of a rifle from corrosion..."
Hope that helps.

STOP operating the arm instantly.
Get it back to Hull Cartridge and tell them you have accidentally put silicone on moving metal to metal parts.
Silicone is very difficult to remove if indeed at all possible. You may be into new components.
There are a few who use silicone externally to protect the metalwork from the elements and salts/acids in your skin. I would rather french kiss john prescott and live with Jade Goody and go driving with George Michael
It does nothing that a lint free cloth and a good drop of quality gun oil (such as Napiers) will do only gun oil WONT seize your rifle SOLID and cost potentially big bucks to unstuff. Just keep it in a placcy bag and give the metalwork only a rub down. Napier alsop do VP90 satchets that emitt a vapour that helps inhibit rust. Also do not use the silica gel you often find in goods to protect it from moisture. This can dry out timber and cause it to crack and warp in extreme cases.
I don't know the reasons why but silicone on metal to metal causes serious friction damage and will grind metal surfaces to pulp extremely quickly.
I would do a search as Fluffybuck has suggested and look for the thread by Bengarzy (Ben Taylor of Theoben fame) and learn a valuable lesson.
Next time, please dont be afraid to ask first - No one will critise you for asking questions rather than seeking solutions![]()
Hope it is ok
