I use them in a ripley at 30 ft/lbs and find i can get groups like that at 50 yards with AA field so i use them the most as i find they fly quite flat aswell.
Was having a play, in a Career (.22) barrel, they hold together a treat at 900 fps - about 1/4" group at 30 yards (will try longer at the club over the weekend, not enough light to shoot further in the field).
Was thinking it might be a nice idea for FAC rapid owners to graft a 19" cut down and sleaved up Carrer barrel on (I have had one done in .177 - also save a little weight as they are 14mm vs. 15.8)).
With the std. Theo barrel, you are stuck at 800 fps (either 22 FP with AAs, or 30FP with Bismags) as the Theo barrels don't work at 30FP with the AAs (for the most part)...
A fairly low power way of achieveing a pretty impressive trajectory....

They will go to 950fps in my Eliminator and still keep it together, bear in mind this gun sizes the pellets when it shoots though <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

Will have a play on the range tomorrow night - 1/4" at 50 yards would be handy <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
Dave Welham reckons he has had Fields shooting very accurately out of a AA 100 at 1030 ftps!

Hmmmmm, I can see myself ending up with a shotgun ! Is this with a reg or without ? Just wondering if reducing the pressure (reg) will help to avoid the pellet being destroyed - kindof a slower push... ?
With a reg Jon.
Ive shot them at 35fpe,admittedly only at 30yds,with one hole results.Hope to try higher power,when Dave gets his back fixed and catches up on his work. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
Thanks Al, some more experiments to come... <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
I've shot them at a shade under 40 ft/lbs from my Tiger Ten LE at fifty yards and they grouped very well indeed - half an inch or less. I was so pleased with myself I bored several people silly by carrying round my targets for a while and showing them off during any lulls in the conversation. My latest tins of Fields haven't been quite as good (I should say the pellets in them, before some wiseass jumps in) so I've switched to Barracuda Match 5.51 for a bit now. These group almost as well as those first Fields and make a much better thud when they land.

I have seen an FAC Rapid shooting 5.52 mm Fields at 930 ft/sec, put pellet on pellet at a measured 70 yards(60 of them!).The gun was fired from a bench on an indoor range.
Afterwards we used a knife to dig out a single, fused together lump of lead from a 4" thick pine back-stop.
60 shots were easily obtainable before any noticable drop from zero, with 400 cc bottle.
Rapids ......Ugly but accurate <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
I think AA fields are pretty choosy as to what barrels they can be shot from at fac powers!
Not so much with BSA barrels though.
