Shortening a barrel & Benefits or a carbine

Want to chop down barrel on S10 to carbine size, friend has an industrial sized lathe which I can do it on. Is it just a case of cutting it off, or is there more to it?

What do you loose from having a shorter barrel, do you loose any accuracy or range?

    Thanks,

    Dave

Superten barrels are choked at the muzzle end so you should shorten the barrel from the breech end. This will also save you from having to re-crown the muzzle. Accuracy should not be affected but power will be slightly lower.

It'll require more air per shot to attain 12 ft/lb as the pellet has less time to accelerate in the shorter barrel.

so you will get less shots as well.
