Simmons 44 Mag in Truplex or Mil-dot?

Looking at the 44 Mag 6.5-20x44 with AO and TT. Would the Mil-dot be more popular with British airgunners for hunting and informal target shooting? Will probably find a home on a 410K.

    Thanks,
    Don

Any views on the above mentioned scope will be much apreciated as I am also looking to get one.

May also get a 410k, it's either that or a harrier x, not decided yet.

I believe there is a good following for mil-dot, as you can use the dot's to help with aim-over/under. So when you have the scope zeroed and you know where it fires at 30yds, you can know to hold over 2 dots or so on at 40yds. In this aspect more useful than truplex. They sound pretty useful, I would like to get mil-dot on my next scope,

Parallax adjustable down to 20 yards?

Thanks for your replies. One more question, the garden being just over 20 yards, is this scope parallex adjustable down to that range? btw, this scope is under 100 pounds in the States.

    Thanks,
    Don

I have this scope with the regular duplex reticle and it will focus to under 10 yards. BTW, its pretty good at rangefinding too.
The 44Mag is IMHO the best scope Simmons have ever done.

    Cheers,

    Guesty.

I have the 6-18x40 Pro-Air with the same reticule as Guesty. As he says the range finding is excellent.Once you correctly set the scope up the gun (TX200HC.22) hits where you aim.I originally thought that a mildot would be easier for holdover etc. but once you get your target "framed" at set distances you know where to aim.

Mil dots work correctly at 10 mag and not really at any other setting (they were designed to help with rangefinding). Unless you never touch your mag, don't use them for hold over/under.They are, however superb for windage adjustment simply by giving you a thing to aim with. (If they fall in the right place!)

As far as the 44mag is concerned, it is a superb scope with brilliant optics and a very sturdy construction (no zero shift). I have two (std ret), one on my S200 and one on my S410K. The 410K is my bunny gun and I never shift the mag from 6.5 but the other is for instruction and as such gets fooled around with all the time and never shifts it's zero. Rangefinding is good from 10-45yds but it goes to hell after that. If you want to mark up your turrets for various ranges they are very positive and again zero doesn't shift no matter how much you faff around with them. Top job.

I don't know if I said in my reply but you don't get any zero shift.....
