Carry / Protect Bags for 3ltr Air Bottles

Has anyone sourced a cheap but hardwearing bag or slip cover for 3ltr air bottles that will protect the bottle and everything else in your boot when you are travelling about. I have in mind some webbing / canvas bag that will save it getting chipped and crashing around into all my kit but I haven't seen anything of the right size in the usual army surplus etc.. places. Presumably the dive boys have something to carry their smaller bottles around.

Anyone got ideas or is it case of making something up ?

Cheers

I looked into this when I bought my 3ltr bottle for topping up while out in the field.

First of all there is no rubber boots for 3ltr bottles, so you can not stand them upright , secondly divers use 3ltr bottles on sides of their big bottles for emergencies etc. so there are small canvas/strong fabric bags which will fit and have attachment clips/webbing to big bottles (this is the one I bought) it is not very protective, but for extra protection (dont laugh ) I put a couple of old sport socks (clean!) on it . I think Daystate do a some sort of a (neoprene?) cover, but I went for the cheap, but effective option.

I bought a large Stanley toolbox from B&Q for my 3L bottle, cost about 15 quid. There's space for a few bits around it and a very useful tray on top that takes tools, pellets, CO2, etc.

I need to carry mine on my back as i ride a bike.
I cut one leg off some old combat trousers, stitched up the bottom and the side.
The neck of the bottle is pulled closed with fasteners already on combat trousers.
I put some straps on from one of my sons old school bags with broken zips. I left the pocket on, its good to keep the hose in.

I use a cut up camping foam sleeping mat wrapped around the bottle and secured with some webbing straps. It protects the bottle from scratches in the boot well and stops grit, mud etc from getting to it too.

Total cost £6.50 and a nice cammo green to boot.

I think I might have answered this one myself (eventually) after seeing above ideas I was walking around Dixons of all places looking for that sale 'bargain' when I stumbled on the Miranda Tripod Bag (to fit model TP35) - its an absolutely perfect fit for a 3ltr bottle with room for some padding (foam or bubble wrap etc). This bag is strong nylon with waterproofing on the inside, two strong webbing straps and a zip top - ideal for keeping dust out of your valve and hose - the best bit is they are just £4.99 !!! Couldn't believe my luck and plenty in stock. Worth a try at that money I'd say !!
