    Holts Auction

I went to the viewing and bid on both the LP53 & Original 6 and had no luck. Looked at the Original 50 would have needed a complete reblue but If i'd know it would be unsold I'd have bid on it....

Either it's a misprint on the auction record or a misprint on the gun (Wobley?) to explain it.

I just looked it up and you're right. The description was: "A WEBLEY MK 2 SERVICE SERIES 3 .22 AIR RIFLE, SERIAL NO S2105, centre frame rear sight, walnut butt with chequered panels, very good condition overall, with spare .25 barrel, (no serial No)."

Still seems like a lot extra for a .25 barrel without matching numbers.

With the serial number S2105, it is a very early third pattern from approximately 1934.
The .25 barrel was introduced in April 1937, but because of the outbreak of war, very few were produced, and it is not known how many, if any, were produced after the war
The Mk.2 Service was discontinued in 1946 with the introduction of the Mk.3.
I know the .25 barrel seems to be very much sought after, but that price seems ridiculous unless the rifle was in pristine condition.
On the up side, I have several Webley Service .25's, one of which is cased, and one boxed, so long may the prices rise.
I have now been told by someone who was there, that the spare .25 barrel was probably not an original Webley barrel.

    Holt Auction

The rifle was in good condition but not worth 850. There was a MK2 Service on Guntrader recently boxed with all three barrels for 700. Now I don't wish to start something but I much prefer the MK3...

That was a very low price for a 3 barrel boxed Service. I wonder if the barrels were original Webley and numbered, and what was the overall condition.

As for the highlighted part of your quote .......PHILISTINE !!!!

I remember a company in the 80's selling repro barrels for the service.
Please stop saying the rifle sold for £850 inc buyers premium and vat, it cost the new owner £1024.78

Did anyone see what condition the Parker Patent .177 Wind up Pistol was in?

At 351.00 it made its money, but would have been interested to know about the condition?
