That's usually the primary reason. That- and a little crud around the button or in its' hole. It has to be held in a certain position while the trigger unit pins are installed. RB
ive just fitted a new spring. The rifle cocks ok, the trouble is the safety wont engage.Has enybody got any solutions??????????thanx

did you have the trigger engaged? IE.ready to fire, i find that hw's like it that way when you put um back together.
if you have lost the spring, one out of a pen will do...
