I AM PROB IN FOR SOME STICK.BUT HEAR I GO. what would you think of a post office licence similar to the one for fishing.but for non fac air guns. surley this sort of a licence would be a meeting place between sensible airgunners and government.the revenue created by this could be used to attack real gun crime.and not us sensible shooters.this way the government will get the message as to just how many of us there is out there . and any one found without a licence carrying a gun can be treated as irrisponsable. and lets say banned from ever getting one. surely this would help stop government legislation being brought in over night without any thought towards logit owners. YES OR NO.

YES OR NO.[/quote]As an angler myself I can see where you're coming from but experience tells me that governments will misuse any revenue available to them. Fishing licences or road fund licences civil servants have no qualms about robbing peter to pay paul. Try not to become as synical <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_redface.gif" alt="Red Face" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> as I am.

Don't think so mate, sorry.

It would, IMHO, do little to prevent yobs getting hold of an air rifle- they'd just mug an extra old lady on top of the ones they mugged for their dope money.

Besides, the money would just be given to some illegal immigrant.

Theoretically a good idea, but I have to agree with Micky and Doobin. The government would Just have an excuse to pull more revenue out of the average bloke.

As far as anyone getting caught without a license being banned from ownership goes, that would need a central database to keep track of offenders and would require you to produce your (probably police) approved license to by a rifle. This would mean in my view a blanket FAC on all rifles. Which we all know will not stop the illegal guns doing the illegal things, but stop the legal shooters enjoying this great sport
