    Beginners luck 4

Hi all,Started shooting on my newly acquired land the past few weeks,we (me and my son james 13yrs) braved the weather, dressed to carry out a major military objective, got up at dawn in the ****** freezing weather and went down to the hide to "surprise" the woody's an "bobtails".

We sat quietly only talking when necessary to releive the cramp and waited for first light,we saw 3 roe deer and then sat and sat some more and watched as huge numbers of "woodys",decided to land at the opposite end of the field to us!kinda tricky these buggers are the sleightest move and they see it, so me decides ON A NEW TAC to surprise them and crawled on my belly what must have been 200metres and almost 20 min guess what? the ****** birds must ave seen me in the final approach and took to wing while I lay there wet n muddy from head to toe.
Not deterred by all this I returned to the hide to sit some more with son until we decided to call it a day and do some target practice instead, which lifted our spirits as we both acheived consistent 8s and 9s on the paper targets at a tape measured 30m.
James now uses a s400 which I bought for him to use, along with a 6-24x42 scope and silencer as well and I must admit he is a ****** good shot and will be one to look out for in future as we plan on entering the HFT comp this year.
My Harrier x performs brilliantly and I would say in all honesty I can't seperate the two guns for build quality and accuracy although a safety catch on the s400 would have been nice.
It is true shooting is not all about filling the game bag as the wildlife we see and fresh air also makes the day,we go every weekend now so it won't be long until we bag something and you will all be hearing about it when we do!
Good luck and hang in there all you fellow beginners if we can do it you can.Redox/Alan and James. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
