    Airgun/Airsoft accessory compatibility...

    Hi Guys
Does anyone know whether the range of silencers from the airsoft world fit airguns? They are advertised as 14mm clockwise or counter clockwise. I would imagine the clockwise ones (if you are looking at the muzzle) would be the right ones?

    Any help appreciated

    Cheers.

    Woosty.

I don't think they'd have any function beyond the cosmetic. Most airsoft suppressors are 'fake', airsoft guns have no muzzle blast to speak of and it doesn't take mych to make them even quieter. In AEGs the noise of the motor and spring piston tends to be louder than any muzzle blast the gun can create.

I was thinking more cosmetic anyway. Any 'can' with some kind volume and foam inside will deaden the sound a little I would think. Do you know if the thread is compatible with 1/2" UNF?

    Regards.

Woosty, all my old airsoft guns had 14mm thread and the pitch was much less than 1/2unf I doubt they will fit

    Hi Rarms
Would you be able to try one and see if it would fit?

    Thanks

    Woosty.

Sorry Woosty I sold all my Airsoft kit when I moved down here, but I am 99.9% sure that it wont fit. The thread on the 14mm fitment it tiny, with probably about 10 turns to a centimetre. The UNF is much chunkier thread.

Thanks guys. Never mind, din't want to put a really funky silencer on my Stealth anyway. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_frown.gif" alt="Frown" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

If you know someone handy with a lathe you could always have an adapter machined for you

Alternatively, how about having a shot at making your own?
You don't need to be a machinist, some PVC tubing, epoxy, washers, a can of black car spray... Do a search, there's plenty of advice on improvised suppressors on this BBS...
