    My Brocock pistol

    Hi,
    I am still wondering what to do with my Brocock pistol. I use it occasionally for rats at our stables and in the past, rabbits too.

    Now to keep the gun, what I understand from a quick call to the local police firearms chap, I send a form in, two people who know me send forms in and I hand over £50. I must also get a secure locker for the gun, which will be inspected and cost me about £60.

    What would be a good replacement for under £110?
    I was thinking of getting a cheap CO2 pistol and air rifle, what do you think?

    If I decided to hand over my Brocock for disposal, could I still sell off the cartridges and repair kit, or is the sale of them also prohibited?

    Unfortunately I only found out about the new law this week, so wasn’t able to sell up before the rules came in to affect.

    Rabbits? Did you snare them first or what?

    I'd have no problem buying it as the new rules don't apply on the Isle of Man, but unfortunately as you say the rules prevent you from selling. There are no restrictions on the sale in Great Britain of the ancillaries (pump and cartridges)

    unfortunately in your position I can't see spending £100 as the best option <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_frown.gif" alt="Frown" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    If you hand the pistol in, the £100 you're saving plus what you get from selling the ancilliaries will buy you a nice HW45 .22 spring pistol, which sounds simpler and more suitable for your purposes.

    Essentialy, for a budget of say £150, you could get something very decent. Another option if you want CO2 and power is the sheridan pistol, or even the pump up version of the same..

    Surely which Brocock model he has is academic, as he cannot sell it. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    That's IMHO. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    unless.....

    But if he'd aggreed the sale before "black tuesday" and the new owner was still putting the serial numbers on the FAC application then it would save this from the melting pot.

    My Brother lives in cumbria and I'm sure he said he paid a bloke called Andrew £20 a few weeks ago but had not picked it up as yet <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

    I have given away about £1.6k of Brockocks to a friend who has an FAC.

    They have been good companions, and have given me much friendship and pleasure.

    The point is, I suppose, that my pistols have always been kept secure, and would have been so.
