Rare 1st pattern Service with Dovetail mounted .22 barrel.

Fitted with safety catch. All numbers match (even the two piece sear is stamped with the S/N: S 298.

Finish is an original faded grey with no pitting. Lovely grained walnut stock. Correct L shaped peepsight is fitted but is coloured a darker shade of blue, so may be a replacement. The rearsight differs to later Service air rifles in that it consists of two fold down leaves, which may be folded down out of the way completely when the peepsight is in use.

Action cocks and fires with excellent accuracy.
