    Webley pistol case

I have just bought a Webley Senior in a Webley cloth/canvass covered hard case, together with spare barrel and rectangular tin (full) of .22 pellets.

The case is a genuine old thing not a reproduction but it is still in good condition with a single lock and key. It even smells old

    I
Does anyone know what such a case is worth to a collector. If it is valuable then I will not make too much use of it as the hinge fabric is showing some signs of fatigue

    Thanks John

    Webley case

    Many thanks for reply

Yes it is identical to the one shown. Very well made and quite special really

I imagine the extra compartment was for an oil can, so that will be the next thing to look for.

I bought it from a gentleman selling off his late brothers collection of 300 air pistols

The majority of pistols including Webleys, Warriors, Walthers and other desirable old guns went to auction as there were so many.

The sad thing is that this collection also included Webley spares and non shooters that had been binned as having no worth. What a shame

    Regards
    John

There were two different types of the canvas and leather pistol case, neither of which were actually made by Webley.
The only difference between the two is a slight difference in size, a different leather handle and a slightly different lock.
The Webley authorised cases had the gold/black Webley trade label in the lid.
Webley also later sold a rexine covered pistol case, once again from two different manufacturers with slight differences between the two.
The bottom front space is indeed for an oil can which you will be hard pressed to find.
There is one on Eb@y at present, but it is not a particularly good example, although it is better than none at all.
Regarding the 'binning' of spares and pistols, there's not a lot one can say, but it's certainly not the first time I have heard of this allegedly happening.
