Thumbs down I'm in a miserable mood but......

OK I'll admit it I don't feel my usual happy self today. Reading some of the posts on this forum has depressed me even more. One thing I pick out from all the other miserable stories of cruelty and greed is this: unpriced items are still attracting buyers!!!
The rules of the sales section are crystal clear: you must post a price. No tolerance. Yeah right. The only problem appears to be that that the posts rarely seem to be removed and furthermore they get forking replies and quite often SELL whatever it is they want to swap/ask price of etc etc. In other words the seller starts an auction, doesn't get their sales thread removed AND sells the goods!! In other words they break the rules-either by design or ignorance- and WIN!!! Now reporting these threads to the mods goes against the grain and I accept that the mods sometimes miss them. So it is up to us: DO NOT RESPOND TO ADVERTS THAT DON'T HAVE A PRICE ATTACHED.
Am I alone in feeling this way? If I am why not go the whole hog, make the bbs an auction site and have done with it.

If a sale ad does not have a price, very often those reading the post will point it out.

Any member finding an advert without a price is entitled to report it to the Mods/Admins, and we'll have a look at it.

I've thought about it but I was brought up not to 'sneak'! Perhaps I will change my attitude in future.

I feel exactly the same way but when offenders are warned by many different people but still refuse to observe the rules they deserve all they get imho.

True but unless you are a mod, getting a thread removed is sneaking!! Also it doesn't address my point that whilst some members like you and I point it out, other members go on via PM and email and offer on the goods. It only needs one.
However, as you say, I think I may well not bother to point it out and just get the forking threads removed.

Me too. Generally I think.... they should do a search for previous sales of that item and price accordingly! My pet hate is that when a sale is complete the sellers quite often remove the body text and/or price of the item making it far harder to work out what was sold and what the ball park price was.

I thought after the last round of shall we say " heated debate" on the subject that it was stipulated that all for sale threads must include the price and a pic of the item..

Is there any way to edit the title of a for sale thread to add "sold" once it has been? Is a nuisance clicking into things only to find they are gone.

Oh, and my pet hate, PLEASE can people put what hand a gun is or if it is ambidextrous, we are not all right handed you know!

Yes-you can edit your own posts but not those put on by others. Just click on the edit key, make your changes and then save.

Yeah, you can edit your own posts but I can't see a way to edit the title of a thread/topic you have started to be able to add the word "sold" to the title.

I think you're asking a bit much there. I mean, I'm grateful if someone actually manages to state what calibre it is, and the price, never mind the finer details.

No Nick, you're not the only grumpy so.... I mean concerned member.

The rules on the sales section are clear and yet they are constantly flaunted, sometimes by people who have been here long enough to know better.

But it would be really easy to forget to state a price. I haven't done so but can easily see myself doing it not out of any craftiness but sheer forgetfulness. I am certain some people do do it deliberately but I'm equally certain some don't.
