Of leaving the price on an item once its been sold? Just to give an idea of what the value of some collectors bits of kit are worth. It annoys the hell out of me when all thats left is "sold to".![]()
I used to just put 'sold' instead of the price but a while back I started leaving the price intact because as you say, it's a handy indicator to what something is worth. A few weeks ago I was searching for an approximate value of something andalmost every single ad had the price deleted. Most annoying.
Oh waily waily waily!
Personally I think that's a good idea as someone who's just starting out collecting and trying to get a handle on the market.![]()
I seem to remember garath askin the same sort of thing a while back..but value of something is a strange thing, not suggesting you dont appreciate this, but sometimes the sale of an item has no bearing on the next sale of a similar item,i know this more than most tonight...haha,
its upto the seller,(and to some extent the buyer) if he wants the price to remain posted

I've always left the prices on my adverts when an item is sold as it's always good for others to see and use as a comparison for pricing when they are buying/selling. I too get frustrated when I see prices removed, but this isn't always the norm. Most in my experience do leave their asking prices intact, but final settled deal prices are imho between the buyer and the seller. Maybe leaving asking prices (minus any noted reductions) should be a forum rule? But while it isn't, it is every sellers right to delete or leave their ads asking prices as they see fit, so a post like this asking for prices to remain on ads after a deal is done is a very good idea indeed. This in mind, allow me to give this a bump back ttt

Hi garath
I can see the sense in your argument, and have benefitted myself from studying form ,so to speak ,but makin it obligatory is a bit over the top,my grandfather lost a lung for freedom of speech and all that dont you know

Just an idea here.
Maybe the people who delete the asking price from their sales threads could advise us as to what the benefit of doing this is?
I 100% agree that it is entirely up to the seller as to whether the asking price is left in or out- but I cannot for the life of me see any claimed benefit from deleting it. Why the secrecy? Is it (as I suspect) a case of some people copying others and a "habit" has been formed?
Maybe I've missed something here?

My point is that the price has already been displayed in the original post so why delete it?
Hi Neal,
To some extent it may just be down to manners, believe me i'm not bein argumentative here, but i still think its up to the seller for whatever reason, and it dosn't get up my nose if a collectable's( i pressume thats what were talkin here)price is deleted..if a lincoln jeffries sells tonight for 300,that dosn't mean tomorrow you could acheive that,or vice versa,I know there's an average price, but its still up to the individual

Good point Neil. Possibly many people delete the price because they may have reduced it for the sale or they think it no longer relevant.
If the price has been replaced by 'sold' and you were really interested, then you could drop the seller a pm.and ask how much it sold for. I am sure many members on here would not mind giving you that info.
I have done that myself to get an indication of what I may have to pay for the same item
